A Tale of Bricks and Flowers

“A tale of bricks and flowers” follows the path to contentment both in subject and in process.

The proposal takes the form of a spiritual journey. It takes place in a world that is inhabited by lost souls. Beings devoid of purpose, occupied by the pointless consumption of desires (represented by bricks), fully capitulated to their impulses and instincts. The story follows one soul that manages to break away from the illusion of comfort and embarks on a expedition in order to find true contentment and peace.

The journey is unknown by both the soul and me. Every painting provides a stepping stone for the next one, and every idea merges with the previous ones to inform the context of the unfolding story.

The Valley of Lost Souls

“In clouds of regrets

yourself you found.

On piles of the things that kept your gaze low

and your urges bound to expand and grow.”

What Persists

Temptation

“To move on you had to know how,
to build the habit to observe,
and to let go.

To burn the residue of regret,
to only want what you have now,
not so afraid your heart to show.

“You didn't need one more minute

one more chance

one more hour.

In your withering bouquet

you didn't need an extra flower.”
